Afternoon in the Yard

The butterflies have come late this summer. While we have had a few in the yard during the early summer, yesterday afternoon there was an explosion around my wife's line of Butterfly Bushes. Hundreds of the winged beauties were alive and everywhere.

Dewey, R.I.P.

In our back yard there is a line of rock cairns spanning some 35 years. Each one of them contains a canine or a feline that was a member of our family. Yesterday there were nineteen, today there are twenty. Dewey, a Pembroke Corgi we adopted a few years back joined his step brothers and sisters. We will miss you Doozer, you were special.

Fixing a Tire

When a tire goes flat on a tractor these days, they fix them on the tractor rather than take them off. Even at that, it's a pretty heavy duty job. This one's at my home in Grays Chapel, North Carolina. Thanks to Hall Tire in Greensboro.

Rainbow

A late afternoon thunderstorm produces a rainbow over my cousin's farm in Grays Chapel, North Carolina. My cousin Kenneth roused me out of my chair and showed it to me.
